Colenso Cafe is set in a beautiful herb garden off the main road on the way to whenuakite. It is well sign posted but the cafe is set behind trees so not easy to see from the road. There is seating inside and out (both undercover and on the verandah). There is an attached cottage living store. Homestyle food. There is great outside space for the kids to run around and playground for them to climb all over.
Colenso's Cafe is a cafe secret this website was designed for. There is great attention to detail in how the cafe is set up, to the toilets and presentation of food. The kids initially complained as their chocolate cake came beautifully presented with cream and a small pansy on the side. They quickly learnt that the coulis and cream complemented the rich cake beautifully. The cafe has a lovely farmcottage ambience. The staff were very friendly with excellent service. The small building was also filled with home decor/ trinkets as well as a range of locally produced food. We would definitely visit again.
